Overview:
The very first GRHS Diwali celebration happened on Tuesday, November 14th. It took place in the Glen Ridge High School Cafeteria from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. It was organized by the GRHS AAPI Club with sponsorship from the Glen Ridge Education Association, Montclair AAPI Youth Council, and Glen Ridge Diversity Inclusion Association.
This was the first GREA Pride event and it was a big success. There were 49 families with 151 people signed up for the Diwali celebration, however, many more came to the door.
This was a wonderful event for families in town to gain deeper insights into the significance of Diwali and its traditions. There were multiple fun activities too such as a dance, saree tie racing, Bingo, drawing, and delicious food. Sophomore Meera Mehta stated, “The most memorable part was the dancing that students and teacher participated in.” Mrs. Savio attended the event and looks forward to supporting future GRAA Pride events. The event was described as a vibrant occasion filled with cultural richness and fun memories.
