In June 2024, Gracie Abrams released her sophomore studio album The Secret of Us. This album is the perfect one to dance, sing, and cry to. The album represents the types of feelings a relationship might bring to an individual. Shortly after the album’s release, Abrams announced her world tour, and it might just be her biggest tour yet.
Abrams started her tour in early September in Portland at Alaska Airlines’ Theater of the Clouds with her supporting act Role Model and plans to finish it off in Perth, Australia at the RAC Arena. In under a month, she sold out over half of her tour dates at some of the largest venues in their respective countries, such as Radio City Music Hall, The O2 Arena, and Greek Theatre.
The standout aspect of her tours is how she treats every one of her fans like family. She points out the fans at the barricade who she remembers going to her house parties when she had just released her first EP “minor.” It’s a bittersweet moment for both her and her fans. At Abrams’ Texas show, she proceeded to point out a fan and say to the crowd “Dylan has been to- I don’t know how many shows, but you’re like a ride or die and I love you more than you know, I love all of you more than you know.” This is a perfect example of how Abrams loves to interact with her fans. Whether it be online or at one of her shows.
Going to the concert myself, you could tell that Abrams was more excited than us to be performing after having to postpone her 3rd and final night in New York City due to a vocal cord injury. Abrams posted on her social media devastated that she had to postpone. She stood on top of the roof of the Radio City Music Hall sign and waved to all her fans, blowing them kisses, and jumping up and down. Lines were packed surrounding the venue, and the merch lines were back to back. When the concert started, singing her song “Risk,” she went straight to the barricade to hug her fans, hold their hands, and take pictures with them, all while singing her heart out to tons of great songs. At the concert, she announced The Secret of Us: Deluxe to come out on Friday the 18th of October, with 3 new tracks and 4 live versions of songs she has already released. She played one of the new tracks “That’s So True” on guitar and for her surprise song (a song that she only plays once on tour) she played “Block Me Out” from her debut album Good Riddance. She ended the night with her classic pop song “Close To You.” Overall, fans on social media were saying it was the best night of their lives, getting to be so close to her.
From being an opener to a headline, small venues to NFL arenas, Abrams never fails to give her fans a good time and make sure they are cared for at one of her concerts. Unfortunately, her North American leg of the tour is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy her beautiful music online. So when you get a chance, take a listen, and maybe take a look at those tickets (come on, I know you’ve been eyeing them).
