On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the Glen Ridge chapter of the National English Honor Society (NEHS) held its annual induction ceremony at the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge, celebrating the academic achievements and literary passion of nine newly inducted juniors.
The ceremony opened with a musical prelude by the Glen Ridge High School band, setting a thoughtful and elegant tone for the evening. A special highlight was a solo performance by Eden Kim, whose rendition captivated the audience and added a personal artistic touch to the event.
As family, friends, and faculty looked on, the inductees processed down the aisle and took their seats, marking the beginning of the formal program. Members of the society then took turns reading aloud the core pillars of NEHS, literary scholarship, character, and service, emphasizing the values each new member is expected to uphold.
One by one, the inductees were called to the stage to receive their official NEHS diplomas, a moment that recognized their commitment to excellence in English language and literature. The ceremony concluded with a collaborative reading, in which each inductee recited a line from a poem—symbolizing unity through words and shared purpose.
After the formalities concluded, students, families, and faculty mingled and enjoyed an assortment of snacks, celebrating not just the induction but the community built through a shared love of language.
The night was a thoughtful reminder of the power of literature to bring people together, and a promising introduction to the future contributions of NEHS’s newest members.
