Fall Sports 2018

The start of a new school year means the start of fall sports. For Glen Ridge High School, fall sports are boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ football, girls’ cheerleading, girls’ field hockey, marching band and color guard, girls’ tennis, and co-ed cross country. The boys’ soccer team has two wins as of September 13; the girls’ team’s record is 1 and 5, their latest game being a 0-2 loss against Montclair High School. The GRHS football team lost 0-33 on September 22, and according to their webpage, are 0 and 1. The girls’ tennis team won their first two games but lost their second two. Their game on the 20th was a 1-4 loss. The cross country and the field hockey teams do not have their scores on their site yet.

GRHS sports coach Steve Reitberger says that sports teams “are looking to build skill and make improved play, We are looking to win games and get into the state tournaments for the varsity teams. We also aim to always have fun.” He states that “the goals [of fall sports teams] are to formulate a positive team atmosphere, and bring that into games towards the competitions, which are hopefully won.”

Good luck to all the Glen Ridge sports teams this fall!
